Biography

Dedicated to Your Movement, Function & Quality of Life

Dr Filip Cosic is an orthopaedic surgeon with a sub-specialty practice in upper limb surgery — encompassing the shoulder, elbow, and wrist — as well as the management of both complex and simple trauma of the extremities. His care philosophy centres on listening to each patient, understanding their individual goals, and building a treatment plan that helps them get back to the activities they love.

"My goal is to help every patient return to the things that matter most to them — whether that's playing golf or tennis, lifting their grandchildren, or simply waking up without pain."

Dr Cosic completed his medical degree at Monash University with High Distinction and a Bachelor of Medical Science with First Class Honours, before undertaking his junior doctor years at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He then entered the nationally competitive AOA21 orthopaedic training program, rotating across leading public and private hospitals throughout Victoria.

In 2025, Dr Cosic completed a prestigious sub-specialty fellowship at the Institut de la Main et de l'Épaule (Paris Hand and Shoulder Institute) under the supervision of Dr Philippe Valenti — internationally renowned for his work in shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopy, tendon transfers, and brachial plexus/thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.

Dr Cosic is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA). He is passionate about research and high-quality evidence-based practice, and is currently completing his PhD at Monash University on the operative and non-operative management of proximal humerus fractures.
